Birth of ALMAMET
Mr. Eugen Wieser (†) and Mr. Alexander Rhomberg founded ALMAMET in Freilassing, Germany.
Founding MME in Cerkezköy, Türkiye
With MME (Magnezyum ve Metal Tozlari Endüstri ve Ticaret A.Ş.), the first foreign ALMAMET company was founded abroad.
Production start in Germany
ALMAMET starts the production of desulfurization reagents for metallurgical purposes in Germany.
Moving into German ALMAMET Office
ALMAMET moved into a new building in Ainring, Germany. Today, the administrative and logistics heart of the group still beats here.
Start Business in India
ALMAMET has started the business in India. Today, India is one of the most important steel markets in the world.
Expanding Business in Eastern Europe

First Symposium in Ostrava, Czech Republic
ALMAMET held the First Symposium on the Desulfurization of Hot Metal and Steel. This is even today an important event for the customers to know the latest trends and innovation on the Desulfurization of Hot Metal and Steel and to exchange a wide-ranging knowledge on the steel route.
Service Center in Ratingen
ALMAMET moved into its own location in Ratingen. Since then, it has been the Production Service Center of Magnesium-blends for Western Europe and is the main logistic hub for the chemical business.
Founding ALMAMET Romania
ALMAMET Romania was founded in 2005, the operation initially took place in rented premises.
Start Granule production in Tianjin
ALMAMET China starts in granule production in Tianjin, China.
Renewing blending station in UK
The blending station at the UK partner is renewed to keep up with the growing demand from the UK market.
Start Fluidized Lime Production at HKM in Duisburg, Germany
ALMAMET start its Fluidized Lime production on the premises of the Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann. This also served as a blueprint for the plants in Trinec in Czech Republic as well as for Tata Steel Meramendali and Jindal Steel & Power Limited in India.
Founding ALMAMET USA
Almamet USA can rely on manufacturing, warehousing and supply facility in Ontario, Canada to supply the Magnesium portion of the reagent as well as products for the chemicals industry.
Commissioning of the blending plant and warehouse in Poland
Commissioning of blending plant and warehouse in the premises of the cooperation partner Sobon. The collaboration with the Polish freight forwarder Sobon was initiated already in 2008.
Founding ALMAMET India
ALMAMET India was founded in 2012, since 2013 ALMAMET India Private Limited (AIPL) is a 100% subsidiary of the ALMAMET International Group.
Relocation ALMAMET Romania

ALMAMET South Africa was founded in 2017, a relocation to a bigger warehouse was conducted in 2020.
Launch ALMAMET Industrial Solutions
With the acquisition of the Desulfurization technology from the Thyssen Krupp Industrial Solutions (formely Polysius) the Almamet Industrial Solutions has been launched in 2018.
Acquisition of MSE in Sondershausen, Germany
ALMAMET acquired Magnesium Solutions Europe and both have set the goal to process 100% all magnesium alloy chips in order to generate a high-quality input material for the iron and steel industry. This results in a significant reduction of CO2 emissions for produced Desulfurization reagents, especially in the primary steel route.
Start Desulfurization-as-a-Service at JSPL in Angul, India
ALMAMET start Operations-as-a-Service, first for the Desulfurization, and operate the Desulfurization for a 2x250MT HMDS
Commission of Blending unit in Strathroy, Canada
A new blending unit in Strathroy was commissioned to serve the North American market.
40th Anniversary of ALMAMET
ALMAMET celebrates its 40th anniversary. In the meantime, the group has grown to more than 20 subsidiaries and more than 250 employees to deliver customer solutions worldwide.
Start SHANXI production
ALMAMET extend its production capacities for manufacturing chips and granules and build up a complete factory in Shanxi, about 500km from Beijing. The SHANXI production has been fully in operation since 2025.
Commissioning of Lime Grinding Facility in North America
A new Lime Grinding Facility was installed and commissioned in Dixmoor, Illiois, United States.
Acquisition of METSER
As system supplier for steel plants, both Integrated and Electro steel plants as well as for foundries, ALMAMET is expanding its product portfolio with Cored Wires and feeding systems through the acquisition of Metser A.S. in Izmir, Türkiye.
Production extension in in Jamshedpur
The blending facility in Jamshedpur is being expanded by another line. The blending facility was initially commissioned already in 2022.
