ALMAMET looks back on an exciting history — powered by people who persevered through setbacks and always worked together toward the best possible result.

1983

Incorporation of ALMAMET
Mr. Eugen Wieser (†) and Mr. Alexander Rhomberg founded ALMAMET in Freilassing, Germany.

1984

Foundation MME in Cerkezköy, Türkiye
With MME (Magnezyum ve Metal Tozlari Endüstri ve Ticaret A.Ş.), the first foreign ALMAMET company was founded.

1986

Production start in Germany
ALMAMET starts the production of desulfurization reagents for metallurgical purposes in Germany.

1988

Moving into Ainring Office
ALMAMET moved into a new office in Ainring, Germany. After several expansions, this is still the ALMAMET Global Headquarter.

1990

Expanding Business in Eastern Europe
ALMAMET successfully expanded its business into Eastern Europe, opening up new markets for Magnesium and Calcium Carbide.

1992

Start Business in India
ALMAMET has started the business in India. Today, India is one of the most important steel markets in the world.

1994

First Symposium in Ostrava, Czech Republic
ALMAMET held the First Symposium on the Desulfurization of Hot Metal and Steel. Since then, this event has been held every two years at different locations and continues to be valued by customers as a forum to exchange on the latest trends.

1997

Service Center in Ratingen
ALMAMET moved into its own location in Ratingen. Since then it is the central Service Hub for Magnesium in Europe.

2005

Foundation ALMAMET Romania
ALMAMET Romania was founded in 2005 as Service Center for Eastern Europe.

2005

Start Granule production in Tianjin
ALMAMET China starts granule production in Tianjin, China.

2006

Service Center in UK
The new Service Center in UK was commissioned to serve the growing demand from the UK market.

2008

Start Fluidized Lime Production at HKM in Duisburg, Germany
ALMAMET start its Fluidized Lime production on the premises of the Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann. The solution became a blueprint for other plants for example Třinec, Czech Republic, Tata Steel Meramandali and Jindal Steel & Power Limited in India.

2010

New Service Center in Poland
Commissioning of blending plant and warehouse in Łopuszno.

2012

Foundation ALMAMET India
ALMAMET India was founded as 100% daughther company to better serve the requirements of the growing Indian market

2017

Foundation ALMAMET South Africa
ALMAMET South Africa was founded in 2017, a relocation to a bigger warehouse was conducted in 2020.

2018

Launch ALMAMET Industrial Solutions
With the acquisition of the Desulfurization technology from the Thyssen Krupp Industrial Solutions (formely Polysius) the Almamet Industrial Solutions has been launched in 2018.

2018

Acquisition of MSE in Sondershausen, Germany
ALMAMET acquired the company Magnesium Solutions Europe to expand the Magnesium Recycling activities within the group.

2019

Start Desulfurization-as-a-Service at JSPL in Angul, India
After the commissioning of the 2×250 MT hot metal desulfurization station provided by ALMAMET Industrial Solutions, ALMAMET India started Desulfurization-as-a-Service.

2020

Service Center in Strathroy, Canada
A new servcie center has been installed in Strathroy to serve the North American market.

 

2023

40th Anniversary of ALMAMET
ALMAMET celebrates its 40th anniversary. In the meantime, the group has grown to more than 20 subsidiaries and more than 250 employees to deliver customer solutions worldwide.

2024

Start SHANXI production
ALMAMET extend its production capacities for manufacturing chips and granules and build up a new factory in Shanxi.

2025

Commissioning of Lime Grinding Facility in North America
A new Lime Grinding Facility was installed and commissioned in Dixmoor, Illinois, United States.

2025

Acquisition of METSER
To expand the business in secondary metallurgy, ALMAMET aquired the Cored Wire producer Metser A.S., located in Izmir, Türkiye.
