ALMAMET has pioneered the use of Lime as a desulfurizing reagent in numerous countries.

ALMAMET’s Fluidized Lime is tailor-made and adapted to the requirements of each injection system in order to achieve efficient and reliable desulfurization processes.

ALMAMET Lime blends contain additives to reach specific aims. The generated slags show a reduced viscosity and an increased surface tension, which leads to lower iron losses and good separation between metal and slag during skimming. The storage life and injectability are greatly improved.

ALMAMET develops fluidizers and determines optimal grain sizes for all kinds of Lime. The excellent flowability of ALMAMET’s Lime blends also improves the efficiency of the Magnesium reagents injected simultaneously in co- and multi- injection plants.

A smooth Lime flow provides a perfect carrier material for all Magnesium-based reagents throughout the injection process, which results in a smooth and efficient treatment. ALMAMET’s solutions for Lime-based reagents ensure a cost-effective, safe and environmentally-friendly hot metal desulfurization process.

ALMAMET'S IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION OF FLUIDIZED LIME

The BOF requires a certain amount of lime to be added during the process. A significant part of the high-quality
lime gets lost for the process since the finer parts, which are generated as wear during the transport can be
captured by the dedusting system.

ALMAMET offers systems for screening the BOF lime prior to the BOF in order to take out the fine share of lime. The lime will be ground and treated for his flow properties in order to produce a fluidized lime for hot metal desulfurization and/or secondary metallurgy.

The local production of lime reduces cost as well as Carbon Footprint and ensures the availability of high-quality lime on site without long transport.
