LIME-MAGNESIUM BLENDS (KM)

For the desulfurization of hot metal and steel through mono-injection systems

ALMAMET produces Lime blends containing Magnesium (KM) for hot metal desulfurization using mono-injection systems.

All ALMAMET’s Lime-Magnesium blends (KM) are tailor-made and designed individually for each plant to match or even surpass the results of a desulfurization with Calcium Carbide.

Advantages

Our Lime-Magnesium blends offer a wides range of advantages over other Lime-Magnesium blends available on the market, as well as over the use of Calcium Carbide on the Desulfurization of hot metal and steel:

Significant improvement in iron losses and reagent costs compared to Calcium Carbide
Perfect flowability and homogeneity
Special additives to achieve higher efficiency and lower iron losses
Lowest Carbon Footprint thanks to the use of Secondary Magnesium
Non-hazardous goods classification

A MORE EFFICIENT DESULFURIZARION WITH KM115 COMPARED TO CaC2

The graph shows a long-term comparison between Calcium Carbide and KM115, a Lime blend containing 15 % Magnesium. While the desulfurization efficiency is nearly identical, significant improvements in iron losses and reagent costs are achieved.

Reduce the Scope 3 emissions in your steel route by using ALMAMET Lime-Magnesium blends

By using ALMAMET KM blends in mono-injection systems, the Scope 3 emissions – compared to CaC2 and compared to blend contain Magnesium which is directly imported from overseas – can be reduced significantly:

ALMAMET KM 115 vs. Calcium Carbide

Compared to Calcium Carbide CaC2 the PCF of ALMAMET’s KM 115 is only about 40% of Calcium Carbide’s PCF. So, it leads to significantly lower emission values in your mono-injection systems and your Scope 3 emissions according the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG).

ALMAMET KM 115 vs. Standard KM

With using ALMAMET’s Lime-Magnesium blend KM 115 in mono-injection systems, the CO2 emissions (kg CO2/to) can be reduced by 75 % compared to a Standard Lime-Magnesium blend.
